  Olympic National Park
On Labor Day I had the privilege to spend a couple days in the back country of the Olympics. Upon first encounter I was somewhat stunned by the beauty. Glaciated peaks, alpine lakes, cascading waterfalls and streams, lush green valleys ... not to mention the other areas of the park with old growth rain forest, untouched coastline, etc. The fact that I haven't been here before is a testament to how little I have seen of my own backyard. There are so many beautiful places to visit within a stones throw of my front door. It just takes the right timing and planning and energy and vision to really take advantage of it all. So much of it is planning. Putting it on the calendar and gearing up properly. Once you're on the road it seems so easy.
